Terms of Service
Effective date: June 19, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Recon, the website and app at ridewithrecon.com (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
Recon is operated by an individual ("Recon," "we," "us"). Contact: support@ridewithrecon.com.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Recon. By using the Service, you confirm that you are 13 or older. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you should review these Terms with a parent or guardian.
2. What Recon does
Recon is a race-intelligence tool for mountain bike and gravel racers. You provide race details and rider information, and Recon generates course analysis, pacing and fueling estimates, weather summaries, checklists, and a printable brief. The Service depends on the information you provide and on third-party data sources.
3. Your account
You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity under your account. Provide accurate information, and let us know if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.
4. Not professional advice — and assumption of risk
This section is important. Please read it.
Recon's outputs — including pacing strategies, fueling and hydration plans, weather interpretations, gear and checklist suggestions, and any AI-generated analysis — are informational estimates and general guidance only. They are not medical, nutritional, health, coaching, or safety advice, and they are not a substitute for professional judgment.
- Consult a qualified professional (such as a physician, registered dietitian, or coach) before acting on fueling, hydration, training, or health-related information, especially if you have any medical condition.
- Cycling, mountain biking, gravel racing, and related activities are inherently dangerous and can result in serious injury or death. You participate at your own risk.
- You are solely responsible for your own decisions, pacing, nutrition, equipment, and safety. Always use your own judgment and follow the rules and guidance of race organizers and authorities.
You agree that you use Recon's outputs at your own risk and that you will not rely on them as your sole basis for any health, safety, or race-day decision.
5. Accuracy and AI
Recon is designed to ground its analysis in sources and to avoid presenting unsupported claims, but no analysis is perfect. Data may be incomplete, outdated, or wrong, weather and forecasts change, and AI-generated content can contain errors. Verify important information independently before relying on it.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service to violate any law or another person's rights;
- attempt to access data that isn't yours, or interfere with the Service's security or operation;
- scrape, overload, or abuse the Service or its underlying providers;
- reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code, except as permitted by law;
- upload content you don't have the right to use.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
7. Your content
You keep ownership of the information and files you provide (your profile, races, and GPX files). You grant Recon the permission needed to store, process, and display that content in order to provide the Service to you, including sending relevant data to the third-party services described in our Privacy Policy. You're responsible for having the rights to anything you upload.
8. Recon's content
The Service itself — its design, code, and original content — belongs to Recon and is protected by applicable law. These Terms don't grant you rights to it beyond using the Service as intended.
9. Paid features
Recon may offer paid features in the future. When it does, additional terms (including billing, subscription, and cancellation terms) will apply and will be presented to you before you purchase.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or accurate.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Recon and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service or your reliance on its outputs, including any injury, health, or race-related outcome. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
12. Termination
You can stop using Recon and delete your account at any time (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll update the effective date and, for significant changes, make a reasonable effort to notify you. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
